Following on from the visit from the Prime Minister Boris Johnson we would like to update our members, local business leaders and the community of Bury on our next steps for Gigg Lane as a Community Benefit Society.
As announced back on the 23rd December 2021, with the support of Bury Football Club Supporters Society, Est 1885 and benefactors (who are all Bury FC supporters), James Daly MP and our business plan for the community stadium the government approved our £1m application to support our bid to match fund and purchase our spiritual home Gigg Lane.
Contracts where exchanged on 7th January 2022, between all parties and on 18th February monies from the Levelling Up fund and benefactors saw the official completion date in which is now owned 51% by Bury Football Club Supporters Society and 49% by Benefactors.
Since February over 1,000 volunteers have helped with the cleanup operation of Gigg Lane. 16 skips, 4 van loads, road Sweepers, pressure washers, solarloos, window replacements, donations of cleaning materials which has been received has been second to none. What a community!
