Football is Back !!

Gigg Lane will host its first competitive match since July 2019 – this coming Sunday at 2pm!

As part of the ongoing negotiations with the Safety Advisory Group, we have a confirmed smaller number of attendees for the first match as we look to increase on a game by game basis.

We will only be using the East Stand for the first game, with the toilet and food provisions based in this stand. In doing this, our required staffing levels are lower and we will look to grow into the stadium capacity. The safety certificates for full capacity of the stadium are being completed week by week, and are on track within our planned schedule of works.
The car park will not be in use for this fixture.

Bury Football Club Women will face Fleetwood Town at 2pm this Sunday 24th April. Tickets are available through Eventbrite and are priced at £5. You can book your tickets using the link above.

Diana Golding, Chairperson of Bury FC Women said, “We are delighted to be back at Gigg Lane with our Women’s Team. The excitement has been building within our Club and I’m sure by Sunday the players will be raring to go. On behalf of the Women’s Team I would like to thank all those who have made it possible. We look forward to many more opportunities to showcase our club, Bury FC Foundation, with our community”

Daniel Bowerbank, Operations Director of Gigg Lane added, “This day is one that has been long in coming, the plan for Gigg Lane is to become a vital part of the town. Having Bury FC Women playing the first competitive game on Gigg Lane in 33 months is a great achievement for everyone. This is only the start of what is to come with many cup finals, grassroots games and events being planned for this great stadium. We hope everyone enjoys the game.”
