Sporting Review

Saturday 11th February saw a vastly experienced Bury Football Club Supporters Society team of members and volunteers face Kews Burrow FC at Gigg Lane Community Stadium. The aim of the day was to raise awareness for Motor Neurone Disease and welcome a Kews Burrow team to our home. On the day donations raised over £400. The Shakers team took the honours on the day with a victory on penalties. This is planned to be an annual event with next years date already in the diary.

Sunday 19th February our Veterans Bury Community United Football Club snatched a 2-1 victory over Salford Vics, this result saw the lads extend their lead at the top of the Premier to 6 points with only 3 games remaining. This coming Friday 24th February 7pm, will be the first game under floodlights at Gigg Lane Community Stadium since 2nd April 2019 versus Cambridge United. Come down and enjoy a night under the floodlights and see the likes of Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley face former Shakers Simon Whaley and Jason Jarrett! Who will come out on top, in a clash of the top 2!

Sunday 19th February was a day to remember for the Bury FC Women, who continue to fly the Shakers Women’s side flag with a game against Hindley. Bury FC Women found themselves going a goal down early on against a team who play in the league above. Once the game settled and we found our feet, following a goal fest the Shakers Women ran out 4 – 2 winners with a brace from Sophie Coates, Kimberley Tyson and Phoebe Duckworth. The final will take place at the end of March at Lancashire FA Headquarters in Leyland.
