As of 26th March 2022, Bury Football Club Supporters’ Society can confirm following an internal investigation and system audit over the last 24 hours, that last evening an email was sent asking a former member to renew their membership.
The email was automated through the membership system to be sent to former members at specific periods following their membership expiring as they had not requested to be removed from our database.
We understand that the tone of this email can be seen by people as divisive and misleading, we apologise for the issues that the wording and tone has caused, we have completed an internal audit of all automated emails that will be sent out to the membership this afternoon and will be asking our Media and Comm’s volunteers to amend the content that is sent out moving forward.
Whilst we are outlining our stance on the email that was issued, we would also like to address the following. We at Bury Football Club Supporters’ Society condemn any acts of misrepresentation, fraudulent emails, fake twitter accounts and the use of abusive language, threats and derogatory terms on Social Media which have over the past 3 years targeted our organisation, individual board members and their families as well as the volunteers of Bury AFC and their board members. We politely once again ask that all forms of abuse of this nature cease with immediate effect so that we can continue to work on creating a Community environment at Gigg Lane that we can all be proud of. Should anybody be concerned about any form of contact please forward them in full as urgent to us at memberships@buryfcss.co.uk and we will adhere to look into them.
